Brisbane South Pasifika & Maori Health Strategy
MANAWISE Consulting led the design, consultations and delivery of the Pasifika and Māori Health and Wellbeing: A Strategic Framework and Action Plan for Brisbane South 2020-2025. The Framework brings together community, Brisbane South PHN, Metro South Health and Children’s Health Queensland by articulating a shared vision, shared values, and shared priorities for Pasifika and Māori health and wellbeing in Brisbane south. A nationwide first, this piece of work promotes a health-wide and community- embedded approach for improved community outcomes.
The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Scheme (PALM)
The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme allows eligible Australian businesses to hire workers from 9 Pacific islands and Timor-Leste when there are not enough local workers available. Through the PALM scheme, eligible businesses can recruit workers for seasonal jobs for up to 9 months or for longer-term roles for between one and 4 years in unskilled, low-skilled and semi-skilled positions. The PALM scheme helps to fill labour gaps in rural and regional Australia and nationally for agriculture and select agriculture-related food product manufacturing sectors.
Disrupting Education with Traditional Knowledges
In this TEDx talk, Andrew discusses the opportunity for innovation that lies at the intersection and implementation of diverse knowledge systems. He outlines examples from his experience in working with at-risk youth in community and research. Andrew also emphasises how in certain sectors (such as youth justice, education, and community development), innovation is needed because current approaches are largely ineffective. A though-provoking talk that challenges us to discover new ways of doing by unpacking diverse ways of thinking.
